100 million people disabled by pain in U.S.

In United States one in three Americans are said to suffer from chronic pain, meaning that they are either partially or completely disabled by pain. It’s the #1 cause of adult disability in the U.S. that, if we combined health care costs and costs related to lost productivity, equals to an annual national economic cost of anywhere from $560 billion to $635 billion.

The cause of chronic pain can vary, from headaches to back pain. In very many cases it can also be caused by diabetes, nerve damage or cancer. And sometimes nobody actually even knows what the pain is caused by.

“With some people, we run all the tests but we just can’t figure out what’s causing the pain,” says Steven P. Cohen, MD, from Walter Reed Army Medical Center. “We can’t come up with a diagnosis.”

If you have even mild chronic pain, you should be checked by a doctor. Symptoms of chronic pain includes pain that could be described as aching, burning, shooting; pain that doesn’t go away; feeling of soreness, stiffness, discomfort. Together with pain you might also be sleepless, feel fatigue, increased need to rest, weakened immune system, changes in mood and so on.

While chronic pain cannot be usually cured, it can be treated. And one of the best treatment options might be SCS therapy using Precision Spectra™ SCS System. You can learn more about it at www.ControlYourPain.com.
