Jio had recently announced the launch of its 4G services, starting with employees in India. While the India-wide rollout of its 4G services is expected soon, the initial users of its 4G services are employees. In addition to the announcement of its 4G services, Reliance Retail also announced a portfolio of 4G-enabled handsets under the LYF brand.
We got a glimpse of the initial LYF Earth 1 smartphone, and it seems to sport mid-range hardware, running Android 5.1.1. Lollipop. The LYF Earth 1’s focus being imaging, it packs in a dual camera set up on the back, which includes a 13MP unit for imaging in addition to a smaller 2MP unit, which could be used for depth sensing. A dual camera setup enables clearer images with less noise and adds plenty of depth and detail. The LYF Earth 1 also comes with a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies.
The device also boasts of a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a 1.5 GHz octa-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is expandable. The LYF Earth 1 sports a 3500mAh battery and all of the above is packaged into a metal and glass construction that weighs in at 162gms.
