In July of 2014, Dell began accepting Bitcoin as payment for its products. This news sent waves of excitement throughout the Bitcoin community, as Dell is one of the largest computer hardware manufacturers and retailers in the world.
Before today, only customers in the United States could purchase Dell products with Bitcoin. Now, the company has opened this payment option to the United Kingdom and Canada.
This decision was announced by Dell CIO Paul Walsh during a keynote speech at eTail West 2015. Walsh said that Dell’s decision to expand its Bitcoin service to a broader market came from several successful months of Bitcoin business in the US, during which customers expressed a high demand for purchasing Dell products with Bitcoin.
