The world’s biggest social media ‘FACEBOOK‘, located in Menlo Park, California, has finally achieved the One billion active user mark, 8 years after launch. Facebook also mention that it had 600 million mobile users.

Facebook social media, which made its debut in a dorm room in year 2004, achieved the historical landmark on September 14 at 12:45 p.m. Pacific time. This now puts one out of seven people in the world on the Facebook social media.

This milestone does not include bots or fake users but real people with accounts who log into the website each month.

If Facebook have been a country, it may be the 3rd largest in the world, behind China with 1.34 billion and India with 1.2 billion.

Based on the statistics, Facebook has seen:

• 1.18 trillion “likes”
• 140.4 billion friend connections
• 219 billion pictures shared (265 billion pictures which include all submitted pictures);
• 17 billion location check-ins
• 62.6 million songs played 22 billion times (since Sept 2011)
• Around 17 billion location-tagged posts were created on the site.
• The average age of a Facebook user was 22, and the top five user nations were Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico and the United States.

Shares of Facebook increased 2.1 % to $22.27 in premarket trading on Thursday. The share made its public debut at $38 in May.
