Mahindra & Mahindra country’s largest SUV maker last month revealed its much anticipated sports utility vehicle, the TUV300. Earlier know by its codename U301, the SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads on several occasion in complete camouflage. Recently the TUV300 was again spotted but this time with the least amount of covers, giving us a much revealing image of the SUV.
At the first look itself you’ll notice that the TUV300 looks more like a premium version of the Tata Sumo. According the Mahindra the design of the TUV300 has been inspired from a Battle Tank and to an extent you can see that in the design. The SUV comes with an upright nose, boxy silhouette and higher ground clearance.
The TUV300 seen in the images tells us that the SUV will come with a straight bonnet, flat roof with radio antenna, Bolero style doors, and a similar set of CEAT tyres. The rear end of the SUV will come with door-mounted spear wheel and simple vertical tail lamp cluster along with a sculpted rear bumper with reflectors.
The new TUV300 SUV will be based on the new ladder frame chassis and will be more compact and lighter than its existing sibling Bolero SUV. This platform is basically a modified version of the platform that underpins the new Scorpio.
Under the hood the new Mahindra TUV300 will be powered by a new mHawk80 engine, which could be the modified 1.5-litre turbo diesel unit that also powers the Quanto. While the TUV300 is capable of hosting 4WD architecture, Mahindra revealed that the compact SUV will only come in 2WD drive option.
The Mahindra TUV300 compact SUV will be launched by mid-September, 2015 and will come with a price tag close to INR 6.5 – 9 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
