Reliance Jio 4G Beta Rolls Out For Reliance Employees

Reliance Jio is leaving no stone unturned for a big bang launch of their 4G services in India by December this year. Yesterday, on the eve of India’s Independence Day, Reliance announced the beta program of 4G services to all its employees. Reliance aims to test their 4G LTE (long term evolution) network with over a lakh of its employees before its full fledged commercial launch by the end of the year.

Led by Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Jio has invested over one lakh crore Indian rupees in establishing the infrastructure required for the 4G services all over India. The company wants to expand the network to over 5 million users by the end of September and it will do so by offering about five RJio connections to each of the employee. It’s not clear whether these connections are strictly meant for the family members of the employees or can be used by others as well.

The beta program will ensure that the services are being offered just the way the company intends to and fix any bugs or issues reported by the staff. One of the aims for this beta 4G program will be to test the quality of service of the network.

An employee of Reliance Jio informed ET that the company does not want to take any chances and is carefully evaluating every aspect of the service. As of now December has been set as the deadline for the commercial launch of the Reliance Jio 4G.

As of now, Airtel has the early mover advantage of being the first one in India to offer 4G services. Airtel is ensuring that the current 3G users get access to 4G speeds at no extra costs.

As always, we’ll keep you updated about the rollout. Do not forget to check out earlier coverage of Reliance Jio 4G.
